My Favorite Snus Brands of 2010
Posted by James in Snus experiencesSo now that 2010 has come to a close and we’re already a few days in to the New Year, I’ve decided to look back on at my year of snus use. For those of you who don’t know, I quit smoking over a year ago now thanks to snus (and in part e-cigarettes, which do a pretty good job at replicating the physical sensation of smoking). Since then, I’ve had many opportunities to try out various brands of snus in order to determine which ones I like best. The following list is my top 5 favorite brands of snus that I’ve tried this year. Of course, this is all personal preference, so be sure to head over to the snus reviews section in order to see better more in-depth descriptions of each brand and find one that suits your tastes.
After rotating between numerous brands of snus, I finally gave Gotland Green a try a few months into my snus adventures. After the first portion, I knew that it would be my daily go-to brand. The strong apple flavor reminds me of a tasty Granny Smith apple. I’m a big fan of fruit flavored snus, and Gotland Green provides an excellent fruit flavor with little salt or tobacco taste.
2) 2010 Kardus
Swedish Match’s 2010 Kardus was the first Kardus I had the opportunity of trying. With hints of rum and a smokey flavor, 2010 Kardus has a delicious taste. There is also just the right amount of salt in the snus in order to compliment the other flavors, making for a very balanced taste. Kardus is also a long cut (cut by hand to boot!) and I much preferred this type of cut rather than a regular finely ground loose snus.
3) General Onyx
Created by Swedish Match, General Onyx is a premium brand snus with a delicious taste. General Onyx has a dominant tobacco flavor, with hints of lemon and black pepper. I find Onyx to be extremely smooth tasting, and it has just the right balance of tobacco and other flavors, resulting in a smooth yet satisfying taste. General Onyx has 11mg nicotine per portion, and I find that it goes excellent with a cup a coffee in the morning.
Manufactured by V2 Tobacco in Denmark, Offroad Cranberry is a cranberry snus with a tart flavor. The price per can is quite low, and I was very surprised with the quality of the snus in relation to its price. V2 also manufactuers Thunder Berry snus, which is another snus I’m a pretty big fan of.
Released in 2010, Lucky Strike Nites is a tobacco flavored snus with a menthol cooling effect. I’m a big fan of menthol, and when I used to smoke I mainly smoked menthol cigarettes, so the combination of menthol and tobacco in Lucky Strike Nites is quite a nice flavor to have on hand in order to mix things up a little sometimes.
