Ettan Loose Snus
Posted by James in Snus reviewsEttan loose snus is one of Sweden’s oldest brands of snus, having been created by Jacob Fredrik Ljunglöf in 1822. Since then, Ettan has remained one of the most popular brands of snus, and is known for its great taste and high quality.
Upon putting some Ettan loose in my mouth, I noticed a smooth (and dominant) smokey tobacco flavor with a slight hint of nuts (I find that the snus even smells a bit like some type of nut, but I can’t put my finger on exactly which kind). I also tasted a slight hint of chocolate, which really compliments the tobacco flavor and makes for an interesting yet smooth taste, as I didn’t get any burning sensation with Ettan that I get with some other brands of snus such as Skruf Stark. Ettan loose has 8mg of nicotine per gram of snus, so the strength of Ettan loose really depends on how much you use at once.
My can of Ettan loose was very moist, and I found it quite easy to bake a portion. Once I placed the newly formed portion in my mouth, it remained there for a half hour without running. One thing that I like about Ettan loose over the portioned variety is that it feels more flavorful, most likely because there is no portion material covering the snus, creating a more direct taste. Being a loose snus also allows me to control the size of the portion, so I can decide exactly how much snus I want to use at one.
Overall, Ettan loose is an excellent snus for the price. It has a smokey tobacco flavor, with hints of nut and chocolate. I use Ettan portion as one of my daily brands of snus, and I love using the loose variety at home. Like the General series, Ettan is a great everday snus, and I highly recommend those getting started with snus to give it a try.
