Phillip Morris 1847 Snus

Posted by James in Snus reviews

Luckily, I was able to get my hands on a tin of  Phillip Morris 1847 Snus (manufactured by Swedish Match)  before it was discontinued in the first week of June. Apparently the brand was discontinued due to “low sales volume” (source). Since I still have a can left, I have decided to do a review on it. Who knows, maybe 1847 will make a comeback in the near future? If not, it is still my duty as a Snus blogger to document what I think of all different types of Snus, so naturally a review was in order!

Taste

1847 is a white portion snus, and as a result it takes a little longer to get the full flavor of the Snus. After about ten minutes with the portion in, a strong tobacco flavor became apparent, and was quite similar to Lucky Strike White Snus. Tobacco is definetly the dominant flavor here, and I can’t really taste any other flavors. Surprisingly, this is a nice change of pace, since lately I have been using quite a few types of Snus that have non-tobacco dominant flavors. The nicotine content of Phillip Morris 1847 Snus is an average level of 8mg per portion.

Portion

The portion is nothing really special, and is made out of a regular material. It doesn’t drip and can last me for around an hour before I take it out, making it an average contender in the portion category.

One excellent thing is that the portions in the can are arranged in a star formation like a few other brands from Swedish Match. In the star formation, the portions are wedged, that way it minimizes the amount of adjusting that must be done in order to get the portion to fit comfortably in my mouth, so 1847 gets a few bonus points here.

Conclusion

Overall, 1847 by Phillip Morris is a tasty Snus, and I enjoyed giving it a try. If anyone wants a taste similar to that of Lucky Strike White, I recommend giving this Snus a try, providing you can purchase some leftover stock from a Snus retailer.
